Health Differences Across the Life Span 3 tests the concepts and principles related to the application of the nursing roles as provider and manager of care and member of profession when applying the nursing process to care for patients across the life span who are experiencing health differences related to musculoskeletal disorders, infectious and communicable diseases, tissue trauma, and neurological dysfunction. Critical thinking skills, evidence-based nursing care, and standards for nursing practice, as well as ethical, legal, and regulatory concerns specific to these patients are addressed.

On the exam, you will be expected to demonstrate the ability to do the following:
  • Apply nursing process with patients across the life span who are experiencing health deviations related to musculoskeletal disorders, infectious and communicable diseases, tissue trauma, and neurological dysfunction
  • Incorporate knowledge from theoretical frameworks using principles, concepts, and theories from the natural, social, and nursing sciences to choose among alternative solutions to make clinical decisions when caring for these patients
  • Use therapeutic communication when interacting with these patients
  • Demonstrate caring and cultural sensitivity when interacting with these patients
  • Apply concepts from interpreted research to improve effectiveness of nursing care
  • Implement the roles of provider and manager of care and member of profession

The examination consists of approximately 160 four-option multiple-choice questions, and you will have three (3) hours to complete the exam. If you are testing at Pearson Professional Centers, your exam will be delivered by computer. You will enter your answers on the computer using either the keyboard or the mouse. The system used for the computer-delivered test is designed to be as user-friendly as possible, even for those with little or no computer experience. Instructions provided on-screen are similar to those you would receive in a paper examination booklet.
