Microbiology measures knowledge and understanding of bacteria, algae, fungi, protozoa, and viruses as well as their relationships with humans. The course is based on material typically taught in a one-semester, introductory college course in Microbiology at the undergraduate level. The Excelsior College Examination consists of approximately 160 four-option, multiple-choice questions and a three-hour completion time. Topics covered include:
