The exam consists of two parts, and the candidate must pass both parts:
Part One: 84 multiple-choice questions with no time limit that includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:
- Preparing the introduction, body, and conclusion of a speech
- Speeches to inform or to persuade
- Using appropriate language and style
- Speech delivery (pronunciation, articulation, voice)
- Controlling nervousness
Part Two: A four-minute persuasive speech. The candidate will have 10 minutes in which to prepare the speech, and the speech will be recorded on an audiocassette tape.
